Taking the Guessing Out Of Cardio Assessing
Beth Kirkpatrick is the pioneer of using heart rate monitors to transform the physical educators' testing for cardio fitness. You will see real students at the PE4life Academy in Grundy Center, Iowa, actually being tested. Because of the technology, all students are provided in real time their continuous heart rate that includes the revolutionary protocol of recording heart rates during the pre exercise phase where all students are lying down, the warmup phase, the actual cardio test, and the recovery phase. At the end of class, all students, parents, and the teacher, will be wirelessly sent the heart rate printout that provides the visual evidence of their heart rates, immediately following class time. There is no downloading by the teacher! Especially fascinating, is the teaching in real time by Rick Schupbach, throughout the testing. You will also see the teaching of the data and exercise physiology using their own heart rate results, that occur the following day.

The Ultra Shuffle
Teachers can use this non-competitive system for all activities as it randomly rotates participants throughout multiple game situations, skill stations, referee positions, and cognitive stations. This system is equally successful with team, partner, and individual activities,; whether indoors or outdoors. The Ultra Shuffle can handle situations where class sizes vary. Especially designed to handle large numbers of students, The Ultra Shuffle is an effective organizational system for the upper elementary, middle, and secondary school physical education programs. This system has twenty years of heart rate data that shows an average of 90% participation that delivers over 60% of time spent in the moderate to vigorous heart rate zones!
